Cinque Terre

Last Sunday (May 1) at 7:15AM, Kari and I took a day trip to Cinque Terre aka the 5 cities! Pics are posted on my photobucket: http://s1184.photobucket.com/albums/z327/KatieItalia2011/Cinque%20Terre%205-1-11/

City # 1: Riomaggiore. Here we walk on Via Dell'Amore or Lover's Walk to town two. The walk was really neat with amazing views!! There were plants and walls with people's names carved into them.

City #2: Manarola. The buildings in this town were very colorful! There was also a sleeping cat on a boat that I got a picture of. SO CUTE!

City #3: Corniglia. In this town we climbed 362 steps almost straight up! It was a long and tiring journey especially after climbing the Duomo the day before. Corniglia in the city between all 5 cities and also where we are lunch. After lunch we had the option to either hike from city 3 to city 4 or take a train to town 4 and lay out on the beach by the beautiful water. Though Kari and I originally wanted to hike, but we were so tired and the hike was much harder so we decided to take the train to City #4: Vernazza and chill out on some rocks by the water. It was so nice out that day! The sun felt amazing!

The group took a boat ride from city 4 to City #5: Monterosso al Mare. We were able to see all of the towns from the water which was awesome to see! In this city, everyone got the chance to actually go and lay on the sand. The sand was so beautiful and it's sparkled!! I went wading in the water which was very cold but not as cold as the water I went into in Germany. It was nice to again lay in the sun and I didn't get sunburn!! We also grabbed a slice of cheese pizza and a chocolate pear tart for dinner. Both were so good! We got back around 9:30 that night which made today a long day but so much fun and the sights were so worth it! I recommend that anyone who goes to Italy visits Cinque Terre! You won't be disappointed!
