Translation: Chocolate Festival!!!! Or literally "Fair of the Handicraft Chocolate"
Today Kari, Alyssa, and I went to a chocolate festival in Florence! I spent 7.50 BUT I had chocolate covered strawberries, a cannoli classico, part of a chocolate crepe, a brownie with chocolate syrup and a bite of some amazing pizza (no chocolate involved). It was amazing!! Probably shouldn't have spent the money but come on! It's chocolate!! And when have you EVER known me to pass up chocolate?? It was a fun time.
There three clowns came up to us while we were eating. They were pretending to be news crew. Alyssa wasn't a big fan but I played along. The only thing I didn't like about then was that they used a toilet bowl brush to brush my hair...it wasn't used but who knows how many people they've done that with!! I'll be taking a nice shower tonight! The clowns did ask for a donation for the children’s hospital but they didn't have any signs, information, or even a collection jar. The girls and I have gotten used to being shot up for money by people here. It's irritating at this point. I would have given them some change but given that they didn't have any info, we all passed. A lot of the people begging here ARE NOT poor. In fact, some of them wear nice clothing. You're just not suppose to notice that. But hey at least we had a laugh.
After the festival, we all went to Ponte Vecchio (the bridge by the river) again and looked at all of the pretty jewelry. I found a ring I adored!! The lady at the shop was nice enough to let Kari look at a handmade charm and me to try on the ring. I would have bought it, but it was 1,100 Euros (about $1,250)! As non European citizens, we get 20% our purchase making my ring only 916.00...so unless anyone wants to make a nice donation to the Katie Fernstaedt fund, I'm going to have to pass on the pretty ring. But I got to try on the 1,100 ring so there's something I can brag about! lol
On our way home, we stopped at a few stands to look. I've been wanting a new scarf since they're all the rage here. And of course I wanted a purple one. I wasn't sure what I wanted but I found one I liked. It's cashmere and 6 Euros! Tip about Italy, if you want something, try to walk away first, people will lower their prices :) The scarf was originally 8 Euros. So I saved a little.
Tomorrow Kari, Kelsey, Olivia, and I are going to Siena. What are we going to do? No clue. What time are we leaving? We don't know. It's going to be very spontaneous. You all know that I'm not the type of person who doesn't plans things before I do them. Heck I have my life planned for the next few years! I also know it's not going to go how I plan, but I have a plan! So not having a plan now is....difficult yet interesting. I know I'll be fine though. And yes I know sometimes the best moments are not planned. I'll let you know what happens!
Ciao!
